Weekly Meditation
In silence the scattered pieces of life fall into place, and I see again where I am going. -- Susan Muto
Lent has come and gone. It seems so long ago when our time was spent on reading, writing, meditating and praying; and our spiritual renewal spoke in soothing tones to our weary souls. Being at peace seems to come in diminishing doses these days. Our energies are again directed to our vocations, unrealistic expectations, and constant demands.
It is time to remind ourselves how we came to that sense of serenity that Lent brought us. Let’s find a place of solitude that brings us comfort and tranquility. It can be a porch swing at dawn, a rock by a cool stream, a car ride in the country, a walk on the beach, even a bus ride. It can be for a few minutes, an hour or a day. Embrace the emotions that well up within you as you experience the tranquility otherwise hidden by the noise of our everyday existence.
Lent will rapidly return, and you will discover again that God has something for you to do. It is unlikely his unfolding purpose will immediately become crystal clear, or lights will come on in your consciousness. But we enter this silence; nonetheless, so we can start the dialogue.
