Weekly Meditation
... how you can see the world in a grain of sand, in the smallest moments of life. -- William Blake
Flying to San Antonio yesterday I came across Blake’s words and I was reminded of what we now in my EFM class call “honeysuckle moments.” The phrase originated from a time during one spring when I was truly depressed and sought the solace of a church only to find the doors were locked. As I returned to my car I started to smell honeysuckle growing throughout Georgetown. The aroma was exhilarating, reminded me of my childhood, and quickly brought me the comfort I sought in the Church. We all need to spend more time looking at things we normally don’t look at. A plant growing in a pot reminds us that everything wants to grow, even if its in a tiny pot. There is a familiar phrase “ that the devil is in the details.” Well perhaps, God is in the details as well — the ones that are so easy to overlook.
